What If....(rather than...."if only"...said the scarecrow, the tinman and the cowardly lion)
What if....what if...what if...what if...
What if you could live your life the way you really wanted to live your life.?
What if you never heard anyone say anything negative about you?
What if you had no limitations on who or what you could be?
What if you always felt protected, cared for and loved?
What if you never had any fear or any doubt in your abilities?
What if you never felt insecure?
What if you really knew there was more to life than what our 5 senses tell us?
Well, there is. There is more to our lives than what our 5 senses tell us. Our 5 senses are part of our human 'hardwiring' to help us navigate through the earth plane. Our senses are important to us because they act as a reflection to the outside world. But, what about the inside world?... the world beyond our senses of sight, sound, touch, smell and feelings?Beyond the 5 senses is another world , our inside world... where all the help, all the answers, to all our questions are found.
We access this 'non-local', invisible world through our quiet, still spirit. When we become quiet, we can listen to our own internal wisdom... and hear the voice of God within.
That is a part of what Guided Imagery/Hypnotherapy is all about.
Excerpt from an article written for a client session on Fear....
The unconscious end of re-programming our fear can be through the power of hypnosis. Hypnosis is an energy technique that quiets down the everyday waking mind to the point where it is still ‘awake’ and alert, but in a different state of consciousness…like daydreaming, where we can access the deeper, still mind of the sub-conscious…. It is here where all the memories and all the past influences are stored. To get to that part of the ‘mind’ (not brain) the ‘chatter’ mind needs to be very quiet. It’s kind of like a mother and father trying to have a serious conversation that is of utmost importance to the family and 3 children under the age of 4 are underfoot screaming, fighting and asking a million questions…It would be very hard to solve a problem under those circumstances..always being interrupted and distracted. Only once the ‘child mind’…our everyday conscious mind is put to rest from it’s constant chatter, analyzing, figuring out, reliving events of today or 10 years ago, and incessant thinking of the future, can our subconscious can be tapped into.
Our subconscious mind is the hard drive of our body. It is automatic…and works in concert with the autonomic nervous system. It is what is responsible for the beating of our hearts, regulating our blood pressure, controlling our digestion and all other bodily functions. It works automatically and also on command. If you tell it (through your words…but more importantly your emotions) that you are afraid, your subconscious mind will not alter, analyze or dilute that thought. It will simply go about getting the body ready for the ‘perceived’ fear. Your heart will beat faster, your palms may get sweaty, your face may blush, more blood will be distributed to your large muscles, you may feel a rush or ‘swish’ in your stomach as more adrenaline is produced, etc. In other words your body is put into red (or orange) alert state for fight or flight action. Contrastly, if your thoughts and emotions are saying you are safe, you are happy, you are ok, your body, through the power of the subconscious mind, goes about making the appropriate physical adjustments. The subconscious mind does not judge.
So, to summarize; if we understand and accept thatthe only way to reach the subconscious is through quieting the conscious ‘chattering’ mind… and that the subconscious totally accepts, without judgment, whatever it is told…it stands to reason that hypnosis can be a powerful tool to initiate change or bring about desired results.
worth repeating...
"quieting the conscious ‘chattering’ mind… and knowing that the subconscious mind totally accepts, without judgment, whatever it is told…it stands to reason that hypnosis can be a powerful tool to initiate change or bring about desired results."
Let’s back up now to the conscious (wide awake) part of dealing with our fears. There are two powerful strategies that have been proven, over and over, to re-program our perceived fears. Why have I twice now used the words ‘perceived fear’? Well, when you think about it,…all fears are perceived. You may think you see a snake in the yard and on closer examination you find it is just a long black stick. Or you may think your spouse is being unfaithful to you because he/she arrives home late every night only to find that they have picked up an extra hours worth of work each night to surprise you with the money to go away on your anniversary next month. You may ‘fear’ that your boss does not like you because he never says so, only to find that on your next review, you are promoted. You may ‘fear’ that the lump you find on your neck is sure to be lung cancer, only to find that it is simply a swollen gland with a sore throat about to follow. You get the point! All fears are perceived
( F-E-A-R….False Evidence Appearing Real). So, the two conscious strategies to banish fear are: Affirmations and Meditation…..affirmations and meditation....affirmations and meditation....affirmations and meditation...affirmations and meditations....
